REVOLUTIONIZING GLOBAL HEALTHCARE WITH 3D PRINTING
Towards 3D Printing in Hospitals Worldwide
What we do
The primary goal of the 3D-printing facilities at MTRH is to design and produce spare parts as well as orthopaedic products. The facility serves multiple purposes, including training students and staff, reproducing essential spare parts, and developing new and innovative products. In addition, the team is continuously exploring ways to ensure the long-term sustainability of the facility. This includes establishing new collaborations, improving workflows, and expanding opportunities for future development.

About us
Researchers and students from
Delft University of Technology
As students and researchers of Delft University of Technology, we have collaborated with Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret, Kenya. In September 2023, a 3D printing facility was established at MTRH. In October 2025 these collaborations extended to the Orthopaedics Department. To ensure the future sustainability of this facility, this website and the individuals involved aim to establish a close collaboration.

Why we do it
MTRH faces major challenges due to the high cost and long delivery or manufacturing times of essential products. This leads to equipment remaining unused, delays in patient care, and increased financial pressure on the hospital. 3D printing can significantly reduce both costs and production time by enabling on-site, on-demand manufacturing, while also reducing dependency on external suppliers. This is why 3D-printing is such a promising solution for MTRH.

How it works
This website is intended for TU Delft students and staff of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya, to assist with everything related to 3D printing. The website has two primary goals:
-
Step-by-step guidance from purchasing a 3D printer to designing and printing your own designs.
-
Download previously designed parts and upload your own designs.
